When I walked through the door my wife she lay upon the floor
And with tears her eyes did soar, I did not know why
Then I looked into her hand and I saw the telegram
Said that I was a brave, brave man, but that I was dead
As Ive mentioned before, MDA (Must Discover Artists) doesn't make other artists solely featured here any less adept to music or less suitable of acknowledgment per se but only to widen each eargasm experience by delivering what's currently hot and full of buzz out there while filtering sleazy from superior. After 4 reeling months Metaphor brings back to you her well-preserved post as being away from the interweb cause me an overflowing list of news-worthy artists in my desktop.

Django guitar, windy street swing; music for both art directors and for your mother. Well-known in Sweden, but unheard of elsewhere, they fold together elements of 1930’s big band swing, roma swing and rhythm & blues, then drop hiphop vocals on top for some serious energetic firepower.

"Swing For Hyresgastforeningen"

YACHT (Young Americans Challenging High Technology)

"Psychic City"

Grizzly Bear

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Grizzly Bear are a four piece psychedelic/experimental band. Grizzly Bear’s music is seductive and intimate, deep with hazy-eyed choruses, whistles, piano, banjo, and several woodwind instruments. In their music, melody and ambiance are necessary complements.

"All We Ask"
"Two Weeks"
"Southern Point"
"Fine For Now"

Fibes, Oh Fibes!

Fibes, Oh Fibes!, a swedish six piece band hailing from the town of Gothenburg on the Swedish westcoast. They play piano-heavy pop with influences by american westcoast rock, adult oriented rock, the slick production of disco-era fleetwood mac and blue eyed soul.

"Love Child"
"Get Up"

Pony Pony Run Run

Pony Pony Run Run is a french power pop band formed in Nantes, FR and Angers, FR with original members; G for guitar and lead voice, A for bass ,T for Synth, S for guitar and back vocals and F for drums. Neat isnt it? But Pony Pony Run Run is not just another electro-pop band, no, that also would be too easy. Pony Pony Run Run is just a damn good pop band from this new easy and unselfconscious generation.
Their first album is coming out on June 15th 2009 in France on their label 3ème Bureau featuring the single “Hey you”.

"Hey You"
"Hey You" (sayCet Remix)
"Hey You" (PPRR Dance Remix)

Iron and Wine

Iron & Wine is the stage and recording name of folk rock singer-songwriter Sam Beam. The name Iron & Wine is taken from a dietary supplement named “Beef Iron & Wine” that he found in a general store while shooting a film. His songs range from in-depth literate narratives to love songs, and have helped to usher in a new generation of folk-pop singer/songwriters.

"The Trapeze Swinger"
"Love Vigilantes"
"Peng! 33"
"Belated Promise Ring"

Company of Thieves

An indie rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2007, Company of Thieves are erudite without being pretentious, hooky without being saccharine, and plainly dedicated to its ideals.

"Oscar Wilde"

Phoenix started during their childhood by Thomas Mars, Deck D’Arcy, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz in the affluent suburb of Versailles, in the same culture that produced late-’90s bands such as Air and Daft Punk. The band employs traditional and electronic instruments, ranging from a recorder to a laptop, and all four members contribute vocals. And yes, and hypemachine already overyhped this band along with the blogosphere.

Marina & The Diamonds

With a self-desciption of "Im Marina, you are the diamonds", Marina & The Diamonds with one look and first listen would be instantly associated between the spectra of La Roux of Little Boots. There's the right amount of innovative panache coupled with wonderful musical pieces.

"Mowgli's Road"
"I Am Not A Robot (The Shoes Remix)"

Lead by the Nose

If only it was only me now.
This is certainly a rare post as Ive never featured shows and web projects here before. But I'm glad to make an exception as Im fairly late with this discovery.

I hopped on a KT Tunstall's video on the youtube recently and it lead me to her sessions with Daryl and John (Hall & Oates). Her sessions included of Daryl Hall, John Oates & co. and Tunstall's reworked versions of "Black Horse and A Cherry Tree", "If Only", "Out of Touch", "Kiss on My List" , Bonnie Raitt's "Lets Give Them Something To Talk About" and along others. After an hour of watching these mind-blowing versions around the channel, I proceeded to the root of my moments of insanity which was LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE.

How have I not known about this before??!!

Basically LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE is Daryl Hall and John Oates' (pop music duo in 1970s and 1980s) monthly performance webcast of playing music with his friends at his house and putting it up on the Internet. It is/was(?) an online sensation and I couldn't agree more after sauntering along the website. So far the show has had appearances by U.K. singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, Kevin Rudolf, Eric Hutchinson, and Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy, a longtime Hall fan, as well as a holiday special featuring songs from the Daryl Hall and John Oates release, Home for Christmas. The show recently also featured guests Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger of The Doors and the list goes on.

Daryl and John are already both in their 60's yet they definitely can still knock my socks off. I really do think that this is a very very very wonderful and unique way for artists/musicians for proving their virtuoso talents in their art. Because sometimes media frenzy can generally change a lot of how people perceive musicians and their material. P-Thugg and Dave 1 of Chromeo even rock out superbly "No Can Do", a Hall & Oates' original. Now what does that say about their musical limits? And this also refers to Daryl and John taking on mainstream pieces such as "Tenderoni" and "Let It Rock" beautifully. LFDH has been been praised by such varied publications as Rolling Stone, Daily Variety, Yahoo and the influential Lefsetz Letter.

Along with today's mix are artists one way or another featured on LFDH.
Hall & Oates- "Kiss on my List"
Company of Thieves- "Oscar Wilde"
Company of Thieves- "Pressure"
(LFDH also introduced me to Company of Thieves!)
KT Tunstall- "I Dont Want You Now"
Bonnie Rait- "Lets Give Them Something to Talk About"
Chromeo- Call Me Up (Banana Dynamite Remix)
(Chromeo is truly amazing)
Eric Hutchinson- "Oh"

I couldn't stress out more my love for this webcast. As a proof, heres a video of Chromeo's Tenderoni session (fast forward to 2:25) from LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE for verification of this webcast' greatness. Some videos can be found in their channel but for complete and archival sessions, the website is the best way to go. Happy watching.
