The Script

Image
I picked yesterday The Script debut album which was made available this 8th of November. The Script, an Irish trio band describes their sound as a whole new brand of Celtic Soul, blending hip hop lyrical flow with pop melodiousness, state-of-the-art R'n'B production with anthemic rock dynamics, classic song construction with gritty contemporary narratives. +/- The Script It's got all the emotion and passion you would expect from across the Irish sea, but it is glittering in its modernity, universal in its singalong addictiveness and global in its syncopation, music for the feet, heart and head. Think U2 versus Timbaland, Van Morrison remixed by Teddy Riley. Cos if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me, And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be, Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet, And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street. MYMP (Make Your Momma Proud)

Image
Everyone seeks those calm days where they can be lazy all day, do nothing and perhaps listen to nostalgic 90's lounge songs. Folks, I introduce you MYMP. This band has been on my folders for years and I stumbled on them recently. MYMP, short for 'Make Your Momma Proud' is known for their mesmerizing acoustic covers of old songs. If you're in for easy-listening mellow pop, take a listen to MYMP. +/- MYMP MYMP is the author of the sweetest, softest and most soothing music the Philippine Music Industry could have. Pairing up the guitar work of Chin Alcantara and the most angelic voice of Juris Fernandez is truly heaven’s work. This tandem, together with their other band mates, has brought fans and listeners everywhere great music and pleasant times both with their wonderful personalities and their heart-warming songs. If you'd only say you love me, baby Things would really work out fine Say You Love Me Waiting in Vain Constantly True Colors The Closer I ...

Chairlift

Image
I don't know why I jumped over the Chairlift wagon a lil bit late. Maybe its because they kinda reminded me of Stricken City ( to make the story short ). Chairlift is a Brooklyn-based band with polished beats of funky guitars, soft electronic drums, and a broad range of celestial synthesizer sounds that produces a dark mystifying effect to anyone within close proximity. They emerged into the public eye through their single ' Bruises '. ' Bruises ' actually is far more different than their usual pieces. What I'm trying to say is, cynicism could kill you. +/- Chairlift Amidst the revival of psychedelic music in the New York underground, Chairlift has chosen to work closely with musical associations within their own generation, shifting ... (more) between pop-art jingles, synthesizer-heavy film soundtracks, and DIY basement beats to project an organic portrait of the young blood raised on Lite-Brites, riding the transition from analog to digital. I was trained in d...

One Blood

Image
Since Metaphor is all about random and splendid music from different points and dimension, and I just watched the perplexing and astounding ' Green Street Hooligans ', I couldn't help not posting the movie's soundtrack, 'One Blood'. You should watch the movie. I never seen violence portrayed more differently. Then I fell to the ground Tasted ashes on my tongue Thinking that only dead Are forever young One Blood by Terence Jay

Rocket

Image
YUNÅ's 'Rocket' is an absolute exquisite. I don't post single songs for nothing so good luck in getting this off your mind after. I can't believe we almost got famous for nothing baby You came the last minute of --- to save me I can't believe we almost got paid for nothing baby Cause even if they go away I got the feeling that you're gonna stay Rocket by YUNÅ

Gladshot

Image
Gladshot gives me a happy tingling feeling inside. One thing I like about them is the positive substance of their songs whilst referring to heart-drenching tales. A band whose sound is honest, versatile and listener-friendly should be given a chance to unfold their music to the rest of the populace. +/- Gladshot Gladshot is a New York City band from Debbie Andrews and Mike Blaxill, two artists who've gotten together to prove that literate, finely-wrought pop can spring from the combination of two quite distinct musical minds. All I Want is You Nobody's Looking Straight from the Fridge He was Gone

Greg Laswell

Image
Greg Laswell has been getting several heads up from his critics and of course fans for a long time now. Usually I would like to juggle an artist a few times because frankly you cannot trust alone the world wide web. But if there's anything else, he had proven himself to be worthy of all those critical acclaims and praises and had completely risen from cliches as well. +/- Greg Laswell The mezmerizing soundscapes create a dazzling embrace, resulting in a lush tapestry that entwines music, mood and emotion. That finds Three Flights from Alto Nido to be one of the loveliest albums to be released, a very short leap away from sheer nirvana. It comes and goes in waves I am only led to wonder why Why I try Comes and Goes in Waves Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Id Be Lying The One I Love

Andrew Bird

Image
Knowing I havent post him yet, I decided to show some love. Multi-instrumentalist and lyricist Andrew Bird is releasing his new album, "Noble Beast" next year. Since the beginning of his career, Andrew Bird released overall nine albums. He grew up listening to classical repertoire, Hungarian Gypsy music, early jazz, country blues, south Indian and others which lead his music to be seasoned with prolific lyrical artistry and brilliant arrangements. I admit, I have a strong affinity with artists playing violins and not to mention he also whistles in his songs. +/- Andrew Bird Andrew Bird’s songs are small Chinese treasure boxes and illustrious Spanish buffets. Elaborately decorated, orchestrated with art, rich with a multitude of hidden drawers, filled with tiny, unexpected boxes and surprises, his songs glide on with episodic movements. MUST DISCOVER ARTISTS VOL. IV

Image
Let's just make this clear. I do not render artists in this category to better than the ones I post singly. Filtering what's awesome among rubble and rubble of popular indie music and alike is my hope. Emiliana Torrini I reckon you know I like Torrini. A female songstress and folk-pop songs? Go ahead, I imagine everyone loves her by now. +/- Emilana cheerfully describes being sat with a friend in a cemetery in Nice, staring at the gravestones and huge epitaphs; "these beautiful angels and tombstones, how silly - that's all life comes to. People really want to believe there is something more, it makes them lazy about the moment". On a mission for my summer kiss I close my eyes and wet my lips But then I miss And you laugh at my face Me and Armani Jungle Drum Big Jumps Unemployed in Summertime Mr. Oizo I kept exchanging Dr. from Mr. Dr. Oizo. If that's the case, I suppose the effect would be much different, like hearing the almost drug-induced "Bruce Will...

Built For The Sea

Image
I love this band. They are one of the few whose music (name also) speaks for itself. Take heed that they are dubbed as a non-pretentious mellow rock band. I swear I don't sugarcoat my posts so you got to take my word when I say this band makes dreamy and captivating music that will haunt you senseless. Be sure also to listen to their remarkable cover of 'Baby Its Cold Outside'. +/- Built For The Sea Built for the Sea’s sound can be described as dreamy indie pop music with Rose’s beautiful, haunting vocals at the forefront, backed by melodic instrumentals. The band’s passionate and lush live performances can captivate an audience, which has resulted in a loyal local fan base. Built for the Sea has been just as supportive of the local community as it has been of the band, making a case for reciprocity and the importance of friends. 'It’s not just about making money and promoting your own band – it’s about community,' says Rose. 'Make friends – make real friends – ...

O'Death

Image
I anticipated some wouldn't really get O'Death. Now don't get that bloody prejudice inside your head. Actually, this band flows folk songs with a dash of country and gothic variations. Although I haven't heard their past two albums which by the way are greatly recommended by others, the new one, Broken Hymns, Limbs and Skin proved their explicit skill in tickling the senses of their listeners. If you wanna go grab a copy, you gotta wait til Oct 28 for the actual release. Watch out also for their upcoming tour . I heard they're really good live. +/- O'Death O’Death features six members who can lead a straight-up hoot-nanny full of boot-stomping “goth-country” songs. These good ol’ boys use fiddles, guitars, ukuleles, banjos, and trombones to get their rockin’ revelry started. They list some of their influences as being “whiskey” and “Appalachian mountain music,” which is very accurate, but I also hear Neil Young, especially in Greg Jamie’s vocals Low Tide Angeli...

The Harmony of Fredrik

Image
This band is a definite long-delayed post. When I receive a newsletter or recommendation, I dont obligely post them right away. I listen to their music instead of criticizing them. Everyone should try it, it will limit the percentage of so-called music fanatics who claim they've heard a song but really haven't. I know, I know... I have issues. Anyway, who is Fredrik? The band who brought us 'Black Fur' fluxes auric pleasure with imaginative chronicles. They also subdued folk songs with taunting patterns. I like that. If you like them also, look out for the release of Na Na Ni album on October 28. +/- Fredrik Fredrik is a new remarkable pop outfit, casually capturing the spirit of classic storybook drama through a highly personal, foresty brand of experimental pop. Despite the name, Fredrik is actually a small orchestra of six, sporting input from some of the very finest of the swedish pop and experimental underground (Band in Box, Scraps of Tape, Vit Päls, The LK). Draw...

She's Pregnant with Songs

Image
This is how we roll. Next stop is Wallis Bird . From the name, you may have guessed her music. Wallis Bird's style ranges from grunge folk to buoyant and lively pop . Overall, her charismatic descend of her songs prompted me post to her. 'Counting to Sleep' has been getting rave reviews but 'Country Bumpkin' is my favorite. Lend an ear guys. +/- Wallis Bird Wallis is a 26 year old Irish born singer who had an evident first love for music from the age of 2 when she got her first guitar! She has been involved in diverse projects, musically and otherwise since the age of 11, having written soundtracks to and acted in short films and plays. Wallis has been giging on the Irish music circuit since the age of 17, playing a catalogue of gigs from tiny, smokie, dim-lit bars to big bright festivals; all building up her reputation as a confident performer with songs written in many styles ranging from folk to rock to jazz to contemporary. Her debut album ‘Spoons’ rocketed into...

The Camerawalls

Image
Introduced by my nagging friend who kept requesting me to post this band, The Camerawalls is slowly proving others that they're not another local wannabe rockstars. I never heard of them before which is somewhat ironic since we're on the same side of the globe. So spread the news folks. +/- The Camerawalls Manila produces miracles of design too far-out from what normally is heard or seen by the majority. The Camerawalls is keen to create ripples of combined nostalgia and pop outings. Formed sometime in September 2007 by Clementine, formerly of the indie- pop/rock sensation Orange & Lemons, he chose to collaborate with old friends and drummer Ian Sarabia, and former bassist from years ago Law Santiago. Armed with his acoustic guitar Clementine returns to his indie roots with a new 3-piece line up – The Camerawalls. After nine months of sowing the seeds and taking baby steps they have released a collection of pop songs for a full-length independent album. July 3, 2008 marked ...

Some Are Amazing, Some Are Just Okay

Image
slumberdoll Hombre ( JoolsMF Remix)- M.I.A. I thought I have had enough of M.I.A. until boom, she's sporting a new baby bump and said to be unretiring . Is that even a word? Anyway, one my friends bring this song up and I couldn't helped posting it. My Love is Like A Sparrow - Jessie Baylin This one is a def oldie, but Baylin's music always shakes my senses everytime. Dance Wiv Me ( Shazam Remix) - Dizzee Rascal ft. Calvin Harris & Chromeo ) Corrosive, I like it. +/- Hey Love - Piano Creeps Other blogs have given good reviews of them. I have been playing their songs over and over again these past few days but I admit Im still trying to get a feel about their sound. Don't let me stop you though. Stand Up - Flobots Lets get this straight, I love them. There's just something about their name that cracks me up. Flobots. Flobots. I know you don't know what I mean. Icy Cold ( Bumblebeez Remix)- Wow Thanks PennedMadness for calling this one. Half Mast - Empir...

Let It Glide

Image
Honestly its a breath of fresh air for me when a song is just implying random and simpler stuff. No pretensions, no heartache issues and dont even get me started about the-ruling-the-whole-world-plan. Its ok to be innovative but letting our guards down once in a while doesn't hurt either. +/- Still Time Still Time, based out of San Luis Obispo, California, has just begun to attract the ear of audiences around the world. Since forming in 2004, Still Time has grown from a hugely popular local band to a group that has captivated listeners worldwide with their energetic grooves, all through a grass roots and word of mouth process. Combining elements of classic rock, folk, jazz, and reggae, Still Time has enjoyed sharing their eclectic style on stage with such bands as Ziggy Marley, Robert Randolph, Mad Caddies, Steel Pulse, Pepper, Ozomatli, ALO, One Republic, David Lindley, Strung Out, and The Expendables, rocking audiences of 4,000+ at their largest venues. The recent...

Love not Hate

Image
Its not with the name people. That's all I can say. +/- Starfucker Starfucker is an indie pop/indie electro band comprised of Sexton Blake's Josh Hodges, Junkface's Ryan Bjornstad, and Mr. Fredrick's Shawn Glassford. Starfucker is a name that is not so much a rejection of the seriousness in the music industry, but a commitment to the playful spirit of their music; an understanding between three multi-instrumentalists in an ethereal galaxy of drums, drum machines, keyboards, guitars, turntables, and a live performance powerful enough to transcend the guilt of actually having fun at a live show. Their self-titled debut came out on September 23rd, 2008 via Badman Recording Co. All my life There you go Oh please stay Just this once Anyway Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second German Love pic
