Jax Panik

Photobucket

Its very hard to feature a musician that hasn't been blogged before and whom you couldn't contact to for those Press Kit and stuff. My saving grace is at least there were some decent portraits to choose from. Thanks for another great recommendation Saige. Jax Panik sound spells for a sexy mix of pop, rock, and electro, with catchy hooks, emo lyrics, sing-along choruses, and loads of dance appeal. If that kind of charm works for you, then you should listen to his 'Cigarettes and Cinnamon' (just get by the 1st minute and you'll be alright). Awesome.+/-

Jax Panik

From a young age it was clear that he was different from the other kids in his neighbourhood. While they were blowing stuff up and torturing little animals, he took up gymnastics and learnt to play the trombone. In high school Jax joined his first band, a punk act called 22 Stars. At varsity Jax played in various bands, regularly switching from guitarist to bassist to keyboardist, and everything in between! The more he struggled to explain his unique vision to other musicians, the more he wanted to just do his own thing. So he bought some cheap software and started recording and programming his own tracks. Jax Panik was born.

YUNÅ's 'Rocket' is an absolute exquisite. I don't post single songs for nothing so good luck in getting this off your mind after.
I can't believe we almost got famous for nothing baby
You came the last minute of --- to save me
I can't believe we almost got paid for nothing baby
Cause even if they go away
I got the feeling that you're gonna stay

Florence and the Machine

Photobucket

Florence and the Machine's 'Kiss with a Fist' is my constant rotation these days. I guess I just couldn't say no to the drums. At first I can't figure out if the track was specially done by a single artist and a band. Florence and the Machine actually is a creative collaboration of 'Florence Welch', UK quality songwriter/singer and her 'Machine', standing nearby playing an instrument. With the help of her 'Machine' she subdued teasing and eardrum-numbing beats in a music generation of streaming female trailblazers.+/-

Florence and the Machine

Often incorporating other musicians such as Lightspeed Champion’s Dev Hynes in her live performance, Welch has created an American influenced sound that goes from light and ironic indie pop (”My Boy Builds Coffins”) to abrasive punk inspired power ballads (”Bird Song Rehersal Version”) without batting an eye. Her first single “Kiss With A Fist” combines the bitterness of Alanis Morrisette with the style of Kate Nash and Blondie. Quite a combination of women I know, but give her a listen and you may be pleasantly surprised at the originality of songwriting. There’s plenty of variation between tracks that are brutally personal with out taking themselves too seriously.
She told me not to step on the cracks
I told her not to fuss and relax
Well, her pretty little face stopped me in my tracks
But now she sleeps with one eye open
That's the price she paid

What Is Happening? Music Video

Photobucket

I normally dont post videos because dozens are premiered each day.
But I refuse to ignore this one. Its Alphabeat!!+/-

Oh, when I said I need you so much
I was dead,
I was alive when you were right here by my side,
We both could see
that I needed you, you needed me,
And now we both regret,
Regret what we said.
What Is Happening? by Alphabeat

Alphabeat's the only band who could make me cry and smile at the same time. Their colorful choreos and superb beats makes my day juvenile always.
If youre still not convinced, here are some of their brilliant tracks (my old posts were deleted).

Dan Black

Photobucket

I wanna go live and die in Paris. Doesn't everyone? All the cool people are just there. Im working on my French and hopefully Ill get there, someday. Hehe. Now one of these chosen entities Im referring to is Dan Black. If you're familiar with Sam Sparro and Walter Meego , who by the way is a solo avant-garde disco act, you'll also like him. Dan Black is currently working on his debut album to be release next year.

Dan Black
Living in self imposed exile in Paris, Dan Black meshes sounds and genres with the same fluidity, ease and cultural nous as his heroes David Bowie and The Neptunes to create his own blue-eyed culture clash of soul, hip hop, rock and electronica and the result is utterly beguiling.

Spaceman

Photobucket

The Killers officially has the funniest and most intriguing lyrics.
It started with a low light
Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed
And then they took my blood type
They left a strange impression in my head
Hmmm... If 'Spaceman' gets your taste buds mad, wait for the release of their new album, 'Day and Age' this Nov 24.

Medeski, Martin & Wood

Photobucket

If you're in for killer harmonious instruments, Medeski, Martin & Wood is the name you're looking for. I always go for vocals but this jazzfunksoul brothers does perfect without it. They have a new record, 'Radiolarians 1'- the first of a three part series of new recordings and I was lucky to be given a copy. Here's a few tracks for you to listen to this amazing ensemble.+/-

Medeski, Martin & Wood

Medeski Martin & Wood, or MMW, is a jazz trio originally formed in 1991, consisting of John Medeski on keyboards, Billy Martin on drums and percussion, and Chris Wood on double bass and bass guitar.

Medeski Martin & Wood was initially a straightforward acoustic jazz trio, but Medeski quickly added a Hammond organ when the difficulties of touring with a piano became apparent. This more soul jazz oriented direction led to the incorporation of other musical genres, including funk, hip hop, trip hop and free jazz. Medeski has also utilized a number of different keyboard instruments, such as a mellotron, a melodica, and a clavinet, among others.

Gladshot

Gladshot gives me a happy tingling feeling inside. One thing I like about them is the positive substance of their songs whilst referring to heart-drenching tales. A band whose sound is honest, versatile and listener-friendly should be given a chance to unfold their music to the rest of the populace. +/-

Gladshot

Gladshot is a New York City band from Debbie Andrews and Mike Blaxill, two artists who've gotten together to prove that literate, finely-wrought pop can spring from the combination of two quite distinct musical minds.
