Katie Herzig

Image
Katie Herzig Im totally addicted to this genre. From Meiko, Lenka, Ingrid Michaelson and now Katie Herzig. Her songs are pure pop but the added whimsical sweet voice and wild-eyed lyrics fit perfectly. Her sound is not too weird and she doesnt carry an epitome of leave-me-alone-you-cant-understand-me facade. Just poppy pop at its finest as they say. +/- Herzig's gifts as a songwriter have stood out perhaps due to the fully produced nature of her songs, recorded with care and a bigness that transcends the potentially damning status of just being another girl in Nashville with a guitar. With a full backing band, string sections and her understated vocals front and center, her songs are adventurous and playful perfect for the triple A set. Lily Frost

Lily Frost Folk songstress Lily Frost just released her album with interpretations of Billy Holiday songs (lesser-known). Her sound is regarded as " melodic, sweet voice and the arrangements of banjo, breathy tenor sax, low sweet clarinet and trumpets evoke the comfortable and stylish atmosphere of a jazz den. " source +/- A rare bird from Canada's musical woods, Lily Frost is inspired by spiritual exploration, human relationships, achieving the impossible, and long espressos. A serious musician who plays her own guitar and writes all her own songs, she's released 8 albums to date (including her work with seminal lounge group The Colorifics). Her work is cinematic, blending film noir, stark minimalism, cinematic images, and coruscating, soul-stabbing honesty. Sex and the City... and the Music

SATC just released the second installment of their soundtrack. I was elated listening to the album because the tracks were well-picked from different genres. It includes Ingrid Michaelson, Elijah Kelley, Goldfrapp, Owen Brandy and others. On the other hand, it was already confirmed that the second installment has already a blue print. The movie may be a bit platitudinal on my taste, but the music, i would say yes anytime. +/- Click Flash - Ciara My First Love- Craig David 2Nite - Janet Jackson Beautiful - Goldfrapp Real Girl - Mutya Buena Pretty Please (Love Me) - Estelle with Cee-Lo Trouble - Bitter:Sweet Dangerous - Elijah Kelley Look at You Now- Katie Herzig Little Romance - Ingrid Michaelson We Got Love - Ryan Shaw Fool's Gold- Amy Winehouse Mockingbird - Allison Moorer Hey Baby - Champagne Flutes You Look So Good - Owen Brady buy this!

Something is Not Right With Me - The Cold War Kids I'd said it before, il say it again. The intro reminds me one of

LONG LIVE ERASERHEADS

Image
Never heard of them before? Eraserheads , dubbed as "the only pinoy band that matters" is a household name in Philippines (even global) during 90's til this day. Their music is unclassifiable, they recklessly walk the crooked line between the underground and the mainstream with a mix of alternative, pop, rock and everything in-between, instantly familiar yet totally unheard of. The Eraserheads have gone from being the biggest "flukes" to being the biggest thing ever to happen to the Philippine music industry. +/- They took their name from the title of a movie by David Lynch that they read while flipping through the pages of a magazine. When they saw the movie years later, they concluded that it had a dark and confusing theme, thank God the name didn't bring bad luck to their careers. Eraserheads was formed in 1989 by four students from the University of the Philippines Diliman. The original lineup consisted of Ely Buendia on vocals and rhythm guitar, Raimund
