The Avett Brothers

Image
Oh my, I didn't notice I have their album for months now. Lesson Learned: First impression is a big NO. +/- The Avett Brothers The Avett Brothers is a folk-rock band that originated in Concord, North Carolina. The band is made up of two brothers, Seth Avett and Scott Avett who play the guitar and banjo, respectively, and Bob Crawford, who plays the stand-up bass. Their songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with, which they sung, is really why people are talking, and why so many sing along to their tunes. They are a reality in a world of entertainment built with smoke and mirrors, and when they play, the common man can break the mirrors and blow the smoke away, so that all that's left behind is the unwavering beauty of the songs. That's the commotion, that's the celebration, and wherever The Avett Brothers are, that's what you'll find. I don’t want to live, but I sure don’t want to die. I’m stuttering

Reason to Love Meiko

Image
I couldn't remember how I found her when my friends haven't even heard her music. And the last time I checked, I cant find a decent site with her name. That kinda sucks. +/- Meiko Meiko is an indie-pop artist who recently released an album under the Myspace Records label earlier this August. Meiko is not new to the music scene- Meiko's last album was the #1 folk album on iTunes and got more than 200,000 downloads. Her sound consists of plucky guitars & lyrics alongside her pop beats, and coupled with her lovely youthful voice, it makes for quite an enjoyable experience. Give me a reason to fall in love Take my hand and let's dance Give me a reason to make me smile Cause I think I forgot how Reasons to Love You Piano Song Boys with Girlfriends The news is she'll be releasing her album on Sept. 9. It features two songs "Said And Done" and "Under My Bed", one song remixed, "Walk By", and a brand-new song called "Boys With Girlfrie

Metro Station

Image
Hmmm, I dont know why this band reminds me of Jonas Brothers . No, erase that! Go forth and listen to their music. +/- Metro Station If one was to make a musical time capsule of 2007 – a collection of sounds and lyrics reflecting the energy of our moment – it might be a good idea to drop in a copy of Metro Station’s eponymous debut record. Sure, the band is young (ok, still in fake ID territory), but Metro Station’s brazenly catchy dance hooks and yearning lyrics perfectly capture what it feels like to be a teenager in today’s culture. This is a band that was weaned on and made by the Internet, whose dedicated legion of online fans made them MySpace stars in a matter of weeks. This is a band that caught the early attention of Alternative Press (earning a spot as one of the magazine’s “22 Best Underground Bands”), along with URB and Teen Vogue magazines, months before they signed to a label. Metro Station is a band that, despite their youth, have made their way from greasy mall jobs to

The Jakes

Image
I cant believe Im really making an effort in writing on this blog. I'm pretty lazy and most of the time I dont make a point. Ha! Thats nuff of me. I stumbled recently on a superb site which features fresh new artists. One can listen songs there and even download with the artist' permission. This is where I discovered 'The Jakes'. Their song, Cough Syrup hooked me up instantly on the first listen. That's how good this band is. The Daily Chorus even described the band's album not mass-produced and crafted carefully which other so-called popular hype indie bands claim. For me, the mixture of drums and other instruments killed me. +/- The Jakes The Jakes is an avant-garde indie rock band from Orange County that finds comfort in traditionalism through Whiskey Blues, Sinatra, and eclectic chant. The Jakes EP Shake My Hand, is fueled with the acumen and panache of the collegiate coast, and has conjured a persona of the experimental collective spirit. Nonetheles

Rarity: Rod Thomas

Image
There are times when I want to shoot my head whenever I hear a song (believe me i do this always and i don't know why). Now its either I cant contain myself on how beautiful the song is or my brain couldn't possibly contemplate why the song was made in the first place. Rod Thomas certainly is in the first category. With a name slightly familiar with a mainstream artist, one might just skim his name. He, definitely deserves some fuss with his fresh, upbeat and utterly almost-perfect sound. Don't take my word for it, you go listen for your self. +/- Rod Thomas Rod Thomas is a singer/songwriter who grew up between two villages in the South Wales valleys with not much else to do but learn how to play a number of instruments and start to write his own songs. Often described as “acoustic disco”, Rod’s music is made using a loop pedal, handclaps, acoustic guitars and percussion to orchestrate tales of life, love, and dancing at discos. or we'll go down to the city and da

LSS: You Don't Know Me by Ben Folds feat. Regina Spektor

I just cant get over with this song. Ben Folds really step up on his game with this one. Also, cheers for Regina Spektor for completing the formula! They should come up with a video soon. Soon! Meanwhile, watch this fan-made video of the song. +/- You Don't Know Me by Ben Folds feat. Regina Spektor I wanna ask you - Do you ever sit and wonder, It's so strange That we could be together for So long, and never know, never care What goes on in the other one's head? Things I've felt but I've never said You said things that I never said So I'll say something that I should have said long ago: (You don't know me) You don't know me at all (You don't know me) You don't know me at all (at all) You could have just propped me up on the table like a mannequin Or a cardboard stand-up and paint me (paint me) Any face that you wanted me To be seen. We're Damned by the existential moment where We saw the couple in the coma and It was we were the cliche, But
