With an incredible and talented ensemble, The Apples in Stereo unfolded their mind-blowing music to the world since mid-90's. This band is quite successful but its really odd I have heard of them just recently. Im also awed how versatile this band is. Apparently, 'Signal in the Sky' was featured in one of the Powerpuff Girls' epi. That's a good thing right? +/- The Apples in Stereo The Apples in stereo is an indie pop band, from Denver, Colorado, co-originators of the innovative Elephant 6 Collective, a group of bands that initially included Neutral Milk Hotel and The Olivia Tremor Control but also includes Elf Power, The Minders and Beulah. The Apples in stereo currently consist of Eric Allen (bass), John Hill (rhythm guitar), John Ferguson, Bill Doss and their new drummer as of 2006, John Dufilho, while lead singer/guitarist Robert Schneider writes the most of the band’s music and lyrics. Their debut release was 1995’s Fun Trick Noisemaker (with Jim McIntyre on b

Honestly its a breath of fresh air for me when a song is just implying random and simpler stuff. No pretensions, no heartache issues and dont even get me started about the-ruling-the-whole-world-plan. Its ok to be innovative but letting our guards down once in a while doesn't hurt either. +/- Still Time Still Time, based out of San Luis Obispo, California, has just begun to attract the ear of audiences around the world. Since forming in 2004, Still Time has grown from a hugely popular local band to a group that has captivated listeners worldwide with their energetic grooves, all through a grass roots and word of mouth process. Combining elements of classic rock, folk, jazz, and reggae, Still Time has enjoyed sharing their eclectic style on stage with such bands as Ziggy Marley, Robert Randolph, Mad Caddies, Steel Pulse, Pepper, Ozomatli, ALO, One Republic, David Lindley, Strung Out, and The Expendables, rocking audiences of 4,000+ at their largest venues. Its not with the name people. That's all I can say. +/- Starfucker Starfucker is an indie pop/indie electro band comprised of Sexton Blake's Josh Hodges, Junkface's Ryan Bjornstad, and Mr. Fredrick's Shawn Glassford. Starfucker is a name that is not so much a rejection of the seriousness in the music industry, but a commitment to the playful spirit of their music; an understanding between three multi-instrumentalists in an ethereal galaxy of drums, drum machines, keyboards, guitars, turntables, and a live performance powerful enough to transcend the guilt of actually having fun at a live show. Their self-titled debut came out on September 23rd, 2008 via Badman Recording Co. All my life There you go Oh please stay Just this once Anyway Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second German Love pic

And She Said, Go Funk Yourself

I sometimes marvel how an artist isn't push commercially when all the right ingredients are there. Nikka Costa has been around long enough to be equated to the likes of Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse. Why do others compare anyone in soul/funk genre to Amy Winehouse? Tamer, grittier, fatter and the list goes on and on... I enjoy Winehouse' sound but cmon. +/- Nikka Costa Nikka Costa is an American singer whose music combines elements of funk, soul, and blues, among other genres. Though she is relatively unknown in the United States, she has achieved impressive commercial success overseas. Nikka Costa is releasing her next album, "Pebble to a Pearl" this Oct 14. "Stuck to You" however is available via itunes. Pebble To A Pearl -- the latest radiant gem by the gifted singer-songwriter and performer Nikka Costa -- is far and away her most direct and convincing musical statement yet. If this is Costa’s most pleasing album to date -- and it clearly is -- then it’s

Alesha Dixon

Image
Alesha Dixon Well you know her... Winner of BBC1's Strictly come Dancing with 4.5 million votes, the fille from the N.E.R.D. video 'She Wants to Move', and the one who told Lily Allen to be quiet (oops) will be releasing her debut album 'The Alesha Show' on the 17th November. Apparently she's very gorgeous and I'm saying this sans jealousy. But is her music worth listening to? +/- The first single entitled 'The Boy Does Nothing' is written and produced by Brian Higgins (Xenomania - Girls Aloud, Sugababes) and is set for release 10th November. Alesha has collaborated with a stellar cast of hitmakers including Steve Booker (Duffy 'Mercy'), Underdogs (Jordin Sparks 'No Air'), Redzone (Rihanna), Stephen Lipson and Soulshock and Carlin. I Miss KT Tunstall

Image
Tracing influences from Pete Doherty and Red Hot Chili Peppers and blaming Ewan McGregor(!) and Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Macdonald, a pasty Scottish songstress enamored my euphony obsessions. If you may want to know, I was stuck on KT Tunstall' songs for a long time. Besides being Scottish, Amy also brings forth skillful folk-rock songs with substantive lyrics blended with powerful vocals. Check her out, 'This is the Life' will give you 3 minutes of exquisite thumping moments. +/- Amy Macdonald Inspired, adolescent Amy picked up one of the guitars her dad had lying round the house. He never played them; he'd never been in a band and had only 'mucked about' on the instrument with his pals when he was younger. And Amy just taught herself how to play the thing. There were no genetic influences, nor even lessons. Just a good ear and few chord patterns found on the internet. And a huge, burning, raging desire to write and play songs. And you're singing the songs Thin

Rachael Yamagata

Image
I've been posting morsels of Rachael Yamagata but never got the chance to post her singly. Wonder why. Anyway, I just gotten hold of her album (Nope, i didn't obtained it illegally). The album is said to be recorded in two parts. The nine tracks on Elephants are darker and more vulnerable than the five gritty, defiant rock songs on Teeth Sinking Into Heart. Taken together, the two halves present a complete timeline of the emotions that revolve around complicated relationships and the accompanying fallout. One thing I've noticed is her songs are angst-waxed even when she's whispering. Yamagata actually came into music because she kept falling in and out of relationships and needed a creative outlet for the emotions. +/- Rachael Yamagata Rachael Yamagata (born on September 23, 1977 in Arlington, Virginia) is a singer-songwriter. She plays piano and has a dark, smokey alto, garnering frequent comparisons to Fiona Apple. Her first full-length album, Happenstance, was rele
