A-Trak and MSTRKRFT Essentials

Photobucket

Tons of DJs are circulating everywhere via the blogosphere. I would really love to post them all, but alas Electro/Remix/Mash-ups genre is my weakest link. If you've stick around long enough, you may have notice by now my music preference. Also Im only familiar with some of them i.e. MSTRKRFT, Sinden, A-Trak, Clockwork, Boys Noize, RAC, and others. Lately, two of them have somehow pulled my consciousness toward their eclectic dimension with their synth beats and thudding bass. Oh yes they did.+/-

To start of, I wanted to titled this post 'A-Trak VS MSTRKRFT' but Im guessing several fiends would attempt to create chaos in my little blog so lets adhere to the less-triggering title. :)

Alain Macklovitch performs and records under the name A-Trak. He is a Montreal, Quebec based DJ and turntablist. Gaining the DMCs World DJ Championship in 1997 at the age of 15 made him the youngest ever to won the title. Later, he was asked to join the Invisibl Skratch Piklz. Currently he is a member of The Allies. They say everything he touches turns to gold. One manifest of that is his remix of 'Bounce' of MSTRKRFT.

MSTRKRFT (pronounced Master Craft) is the pet project of Toronto musician Jesse F. Keeler (Death From Above 1979) and studio wizard Al-P (Girlsareshort). The pair has been collaborating, on and off, since 1998. Though they went separate routes the friends remained in contact, trading tapes of their individual, unreleased forays into dance music. “You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine”, a red-hot masterpiece that fuses the energy of rock and roll with the oomph of disco spawned hit singles like “Romantic Rights,” and “Black History Month” gave rise to Jesse and Al’s resolve to start their own project.
“It all comes down to feel,” states AL-P. “We’re interested in making people feel like they want to dance, at least a little bit, so it’s all about whatever it takes to get people there.”
